Middle Tennessee never gives a rug a dry month. Rain arrives in every one of them, roughly three and a half to five inches at a time, and through July and August the overnight low sits near seventy degrees, so the air stops cooling off long before it stops holding water. Underneath most of the older housing stock is a crawlspace or a basement making its own weather, and a rug on the floor above it is the first thing in the house to notice. A 1910 cottage in East Nashville on original oak and a house cut into a Williamson County hillside are living through the same August in completely different ways. These are the areas we collect from most, and what tends to be waiting when we get there.
